The BMJ Awards, launched in 2009, are the UK's premier medical awards programme, recognising and celebrating the inspirational work done by doctors and their teams.
Organised by The BMJ, one of the world's leading medical journals, the awards reflect our mission to improve patient outcomes and showcase the very best healthcare in the UK.
The BMJ Awards are an annual programme which begin in the autumn and culminate in early summer in a gala dinner, where shortlisted teams in more than a dozen categories learn who has won in front of a prestigious audience of leading figures from the world of UK medicine and health.
In 2013, more than 600 guests congregated in London to applaud 63 shortlisted teams in 15 categories ranging from primary care to surgery.
The winners and shortlisted teams receive extensive coverage in The BMJ and more widely in the UK media.
The awards are supported by a number of sponsors who share The BMJ's passion for celebrating instances of everyday medical excellence.
